Control rods

Use the control rod to move the Louver slats in your shutters up or down to let in the light. Choose from a centralised control rod, one which is set to the side, or one which is hidden from view.

Coloured shutters

With over 3,500 Dulux Trade or Farrow & Ball colours to choose from, Lifestyle Shutters can be customised to match your decor. Wood plantation shutters in a custom painted colour are priced at an additional 20% on the standard shutter price.

Drop pin hinges

Easily remove your shutters with drop pin hinges. This may be of particular interest for the health and safety conscious and designers of commercial premises, as it allows you to remove your shutters quickly in the event of an emergency.

DIY shutters

The trouble-free way to own internal shutters is let us design and install them for you.

Alternatively, we can visit and design the shutters for you, outline potential problems with installations and generally explain the best way for you to install the shutters yourself. Make sure you have the skills necessary before taking this route.

We have a lot of DIY customers who have been very successful in their installations but do not tackle this just because you have a friendly carpenter unless you know he/she is good.

Fire safety

Phoenix wood is one of the slowest burning woods on earth. Our Phoenix shutters are therefore, an ideal option when it comes to choosing window furnishings for commercial premises. You may even keep your insurance costs down by choosing these wooden shutters over curtains.

Fixings and hinges

We fit customised screw caps in a variety of stains and colours to discreetly cover all fixing screws so they match perfectly with your chosen shutters.

A choice of 6 specially manufactured hinges, magnetic fittings and matching screw heads are available.

Frames and mouldings

Our specially designed frames and custom mouldings can all be tailored for perfect fit so your window shutters blend seamlessly with existing window frames, skirting and coving within any room.

Our new clean-look frames give you easy and secure magnetic catches and less light infiltration when your shutters are closed.

Louver dimensions

Generally larger windows require larger louver sizes. With larger custom Louvers, the interior of a room receives more light but less privacy from the outside.

Magnetic closure

Your plantation shutters will not sway in the breeze when ventilation is allowed through the louvers like a blind or curtain would. Our secure magnetic closure of your shutters prevents this.

Rebated inner & outer styles

Rebated Inner & Outer Styles are manufactured on bi-folding shutter panels and where two shutter panels meet, so they overlap to form a light block where the hinges are mounted to maximise light blockage when your shutters are fully closed at night time.

Safety features

To increase additional security for your windows. We can accommodate drop bolts and safety latches to your shutters and framework to provide a secure barrier when you windows and doors are opened for ventilation to the room.

Additional safety precautions such as security bolts, locks and catches can be fitted with your shutters for increased protection. Please ask your designer at time of survey for these further safety measures.

Shaped shutters

Custom made shaped window shutters with fully functional Louvers can be manufactured in all our wood shutter ranges and are available in any stain or paint finish. We offer many options and pride ourselves on being able to measure and fit bespoke shutters to even the most complex of window designs.

Special shaped shutters are more expensive than standard rectangular window shutters as they need to be templated and hand crafted. They also take longer to manufacture than standard wooden shutters so please allow 7 - 9 weeks.

Solid panel sizes

Raised Shutters are made with a 12mm MDF infill (veneered) with 27mm x 40mm vertical stiles. The MDF board will not be veneered if it is a painted colour.

Solid Panel Shaker Shutters are made with a 9mm MDF infill (veneered) with 30mm x 50mm vertical stiles. The MDF board will not be veneered if it is a painted colour.

Solid Panel Raised/Louver Top Shutters are made with a 12mm MDF infill (veneered) with 27mm x 40mm vertical stiles. This consists of a solid raised base with the choice of all Louver sizes above. This option looks great in restaurants!

Wood stains and colour variation

Stained Shutters are hand rubbed, sealed, sanded and protected with two clear top coats. An 'oiled only' wooden finish (see right) rubbed down with linseed oil is also available in the Red Cedar Range.

Painted Shutters are sealed, sanded, primed, re-sanded and covered with two satin finish top costs. The wood grain is still visible on the Phoenix Shutter Range. Stains for all wood plantation shutters can vary. An exact match to the samples shown when ordered is NOT guaranteed due to the properties of natural wood.

Likewise when wooden plantation shutters are ordered in custom colour painted finishes, there may be some slight tonal differences to the original colour swatch due to the inclusion of a polyurethane finish to protect the painted shutters and UV light protection guaranteed to resist fading from the sun's rays, incorporated in the spraying process.
